Why QazaqKey, when there's CTA?

Kazakh you can actually read.

The Common Turkic Alphabet unites a family of languages; QazaqKey restores one of them. Russification rewrote Kazakh spelling in ways it touched no other Turkic language as deeply — and a shared alphabet, faithfully carrying whatever spelling it's given, can't undo that by design. QazaqKey's one job is to make those erased sounds visible again. CTA unites; QazaqKey restores. Use either — they're lanes, not rivals.

What restoration looks like

A recent loan like медаль keeps its fronted vowel in QazaqKey (medäl), where citation spelling would flatten it. That is the kind of Kazakh-specific repair a pan-Turkic standard has no reason to carry.

The Common Turkic Alphabet is the Turkic Academy's shared standard, adopted by the OTS commission in Astana, June 2026; in Kazakhstan the national rollout is underway. QazaqKey is an independent design, built on how Kazakhs have written Latin for thirty years.
